Honoring Our Past By Voting For Our Future

Dia De Los Muertos holds a cherished place in the United States, celebrated both within and beyond Latino communities. This tradition, filled with rich symbolism and beauty, brings people together to reflect on our shared human experience, honoring heritage and loved ones, while envisioning a brighter future. Each fall, Latino communities gather amid marigolds and migrating mariposas to celebrate the past and look forward with hope.

In 2024, Amplifier partnered with Equis to elevate Día de los Muertos into a nationwide movement, merging cultural celebration with civic engagement through an interactive public art campaign. Together, we commissioned stunning original artwork by Iliana Galvez (@growmija) that was displayed in public spaces across the U.S., amplifying the rich symbolism of this tradition in communities far and wide.

We also brought Día de los Muertos to life through site-specific contemporary art installations by renowned artists Gitzel Moncivais in Las Cruces, New Mexico and Carlos Ramirez in Fresno, California. These installations not only celebrated the beauty of this tradition but also reached hundreds of thousands of people, inspiring them to make their voices heard at the polls.

To further empower communities, we developed a dynamic arts based open-source teaching tool, enabling educators to bring the essence of Día de los Muertos into classrooms. Teachers can register now to access free artwork and teaching tools that blend cultural education with civic empowerment.

Through art, education, and action, Amplifier’s Día de los Muertos campaign connects the past, present, and future—celebrating who we are while empowering us to shape the world we want to see.
