This special patch created by Amplifier and Josh MacPhee for the Beyond Prisons series approaches incarceration in the United States from an empowering angle. MacPhee chose to harness the colorful imagery around the message that it is possible to break out of the confines of our criminal justice system and into a true state of liberation–but we must work together to get there. 

“The intention here was to have a rainbow which is both concentrating into a point which can smash the bars from the outside, as well as a rainbow screaming out and cracking the bars from the inside,” he says. “The prison culture we are trapped in can only be changed by the combined forces of inside and out.”
